THE HOUSE-BUILDING THEORY OF E-EMPIRE BUILDING

I hear the question at least once a day--"Once I have my Domain Name, what do I do with it?

Good question. Here's the answer I'd give anyone:

  1. BUY YOUR NEW ADDRESS--Make certain you don't lose it by failure to renew your registration.

  2. BUY THE VIRTUAL PROPERTY--Choose a host for your webstite. If you bought your Domain Name through OverLordOfTheInternet.com, then you're entitled to use our WebSite Hosting Service at a fraction of the ordinary cost--only $10 a month gives you a Place in the CyberSun.

  3. PUT UP A "FOR-SALE" SIGN ON THE FRONT LAWN--Make at least a "Front Page" for your new website, or you can get one from us. This should be well-designed and look like an entry to a much larger site, which it will be soon, because right after the Front Page is up with all its "hot buttons" going nowhere, you're going to give them a place to go. It can even flash "This Site For Sale" to anyone who clicks on your site before they even get there!

  4. BUILD HOUSE 1--The next step is to put in your most basic "Back Pages"--those are the "sub-directories" which form your Secondary Pages which divide up the categories still further, leading to still more Tertiary (Third Level) back pages with even more declensions into more and more focused detail, as far as you think the browsing public can tolerate it.

  5. BUILD HOUSE 2--Then you fill out the pages with graphics, and maybe do a little web design; by this time, you'll have the html skills to do some good stuff. You need never master the heavy perl script and java--there are Template Web Pages on DreamWeaver so you just put in the stuff you want and upload it and that's all there is to it!

  6. BUILD HOUSE 3--Start looking around at other similar websites and go to Great Domains to see what other similar Domains are going for by the time you're ready to sell. It won't be the same, then--even more E-Real Estate will be gone.

  7. BUILD HOUSE 4--Now it's time to list your property. Never ever list your Domain on eBay or any other public venue--you'll end up having to explain what a "Domain" is and they do not appreciate what is happening in cyberspace, that all the Real Estate is vanishing fast, nor do they care. They're into PEZ holders and used cars.

Hopefully you'll be able to sell it for a bit of cash, plus stock in the company that bought the Domain Name, plus what's called "Future Participation" which could mean stock options, even a job in the new company, possibly a place as a "Consultant" or "Independent Contractor" or even "Chief of Internet Operations" if you've gotten valuable as a NetGeek.

  8. BUILD A HOTEL--When you sell the property and yet retain some rights in the company that bought it, you have just CAPITALIZED YOURSELF INTO OWNERSHIP at a cost to you of only a few hundred dollars for the whole operation up until the time of sale.

In effect what you've done is bought into an IPO at the very beginning, for what can only be described as a ridiculously miniscule investment considering the vast potential for return on each Domain, provided you did two things right:

    • You chose the "right" neighborhood, which in this case can only be a dot-com.
    • You chose the "right" name, one which could easily become a Brand, without legal complications and counterclaims.

      That's rare.

The chances are that you'll guess wrong, and that you'll make a total mess of it if indeed you end up doing anything more than spending $60 of your hard-earned money on a chunk of air.

Fair warning, this takes some skill and lots and lots of research. If after you have done your Due Diligence Research, you decide you want some guidance in selecting cool Domain Names, you can take advantage of my generosity: I can't possibly buy up all the Cool Names I find each day, so I post them every so often, usually about once a day at varying times, and you are welcome to click on--and buy at the standard registry fee of $60--any of the Domain Picks I've posted.

I perform this service absolutely free; you are getting the benefit of hours and hours of my Crypto work for nothing--you'd have to pay the Registration Fee anyway, and you might as well do it on our site so we get our tiny percentage.

This goes not to me but to my favorite charities. If you'd like an idea of what's possible on a site with a little application and very minor skills merely click on http://www.slimeworld.com.

With a little luck, you should soon have yourself a few Hotels and maybe even a utility or a railroad!!! Hang loose, and Stay Out of Jail unless you have a "Get Out of Jail Free" card!!! Domain's the Name of the Game. Play it Here.
